Small Animals, Big Personalities

At The Naked Acre Homestead, every animal has a role to play. Some work the land, some contribute to production, and some simply bring a quieter kind of value to daily life.

Our rabbits fall somewhere in between.

They are part of our growing homestead, contributing to our long-term goals while also being incredibly personable, engaging animals in their own right.

Our Current Rabbits

Our small but intentional group is made up of both breeding rabbits and companion animals.

Truffle

Our doe, Truffle, is a blue fawn broken Mini Lop. She brings a soft temperament, strong type, and beautiful colouring to our program. As our foundation doe, she represents the direction we want to take with future litters, focusing on both structure and personality.

Mylo

Mylo, our buck, is a broken blue Holland Lop rabbit. He complements Truffle well with his compact build and balanced features. His calm but curious nature makes him easy to work with and a strong candidate for our developing program.

Butter and Spud

Butter and Spud are our two neutered bucks and permanent members of the homestead.

They are crosses between Netherland Dwarf rabbit, Chinchilla rabbit, and Holland Lop. This mix gives them a unique look and a lot of personality in a small package.

As non-breeding rabbits, their role is simple but important. They help keep us grounded in the companion side of rabbit keeping and remind us that not every animal needs a production purpose to have value.

Our Approach

Our rabbit program is still in its early stages, but like everything we do, it is built with intention.

We are focusing on:

- Strong & healthy structure
- Good temperaments suited for handling & interaction
- Clean & attractive colour patterns
- Rabbits that are easy to manage within a homestead setting

We are not rushing the process. Each pairing and each decision is made with long-term goals in mind.

More Than Just Livestock

Rabbits have a way of fitting into daily life differently than other animals.

They are quieter, more subtle, but just as rewarding.

Whether it is watching them settle into fresh bedding, interact with each other, or simply enjoy their space, they add a calm and steady presence to the farm.

At the same time, they offer real potential. Rabbits are efficient, adaptable, and well suited to small-scale homesteading, making them a valuable addition for those looking to expand thoughtfully.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow our rabbit program, we will be focusing on refining our pairings, learning more about genetics and structure, and ensuring that every rabbit raised here reflects the standards we are working toward.

For now, this small group represents the beginning.
