A Different Kind of Farm Animal

Not every animal on our homestead has a production role, and not every animal is part of a breeding program.

Some are simply part of the family.

Norman, our bearded dragon, falls into that category.

Meet Norman

Norman is, in the simplest terms, a very red bearded dragon.
That is both the technical description and the most accurate one.

He brings something completely different to the farm. While the rest of our animals are outside in the elements, working, grazing, or producing, Norman lives a much more relaxed indoor life.

Heat lamp on, basking spot secured, and absolutely no concern about the weather.

His Role on the Homestead

Norman is not here to produce, breed, or contribute in a traditional homestead sense.

His role is simpler, but just as important.

He is part of the rhythm of daily life. A reminder that not everything needs to have a purpose beyond enjoyment and care.

Whether he is watching from his enclosure, slowly making his way across a surface, or just existing in his own calm, unbothered way, he adds a different kind of presence to the farm.

A Part of the Family

Every homestead has its working animals, but the best ones also have animals that are there simply because they are loved.

Norman is one of those animals.

He may not lay eggs, hatch chicks, or raise young, but he has carved out his place here all the same.

And realistically, every farm could use at least one very red lizard just minding his business.
